Today I served as the external examiner for a PhD within the Department of Information Studies at Aberystwyth University. The work submitted considers academic librarians, decision making and the evidence based practice model. It’s a very long journey from Edinburgh to Aberystwyth, but well worth it for the welcome I received at the University and the interesting viva discussion with the candidate and the rest of the examination team. The student was awarded a PhD subject to amendments to the thesis.

Given the long distance travelled for the viva I decided to spend the weekend in Wales. The sunset over Borth beach this evening was magical.
