‘From a network model to a model network: strategies for network development to narrow the LIS research–practice gap’ has just been published. This paper, which I co-authored with my Edinburgh Napier University colleagues Dr Bruce Ryan, Rachel Salzano, and Katherine Stephen, can be found in issue 3 of volume 79 of the Journal of Documentation, and is available as a full-text download from the publisher.
I will be giving a presentation about this work at a free networking and knowledge sharing event in central Edinburgh on Thursday 25th May 2023. Although billed as the ‘RIVAL Reunion’, this event is open to all Scotland-based librarians and library and information science (LIS) researchers, whether or not they participated in the four earlier RIVAL network meetings that took place between 2019 and 2021.
The varied programme at the RIVAL Reunion also includes a keynote speech from Professor Brian Detlor (McMaster University, Canada), a game, group exercises/discussions, a chance for delegates to speak in ‘unconference’ style, plus optional post-event evening activities. This promises a lively and entertaining day for learning about maximising the impact and value of library and information science research through strengthening bonds between practitioners and researchers. Register free of charge for the RIVAL Reunion on EventBrite.
