Paper acceptance at the 2022 Archives and Records Association conference for Edinburgh Napier team #ARA2022

ARA Conference

My colleagues Dr Bruce Ryan, Dr Iain McGregor and I have recently learnt that a submission that we made this January has been accepted for the Archives and Records Association UK and Ireland 2022 conference. This event runs from 31st August to 2nd September 2022 in Chester. The draft conference programme for the conference is already available, and registrations open.

In Digital options: an assessment of audience engagement with a digitised archive set transformed from online text and images to audio format we will report the findings from the empirical research undertaken for the Creative Informatics (AHRC) funded Platform to platform project.

Our focus will be the evaluation of audience engagement with the Diary of the war by Lorna Lloyd in its two digital formats: (1) the online text and images uploaded daily to a Blipfoto journal between August 2019 and January 2021; and (2) the non-fiction podcast series to be launched in Malvern on 24th May 2022, which includes contemporaneous news material from the BBC archive, and newspaper ‘clippings’ from the British Newspaper Archive and Malvern Gazette alongside the war diary entries. Further information on the creation of the podcast can be found on the Blipfoto journal LornaLPodcast.

The full abstract for our presentation is available from the Edinburgh Napier repository.
