Many congratulations to all who graduated at the Edinburgh Napier University ceremonies last week!
I am especially pleased that three members of the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) were awarded their PhDs on 7th July 2022:
- Dr Najla Alamri for her thesis entitled Enabling female student interaction in synchronous virtual classrooms in Saudi Higher Education, supervised within CSI by Dr Laura Muir, Professor Sally Smith, and Dr Colin Smith
- Dr Pritam Chita for his thesis Obstacles and opportunities in implementing large-scale agile project management: re-positioning activity theory as an analytical tool, supervised within CSI by Dr Peter Cruickshank, Dr Colin Smith, and Dr Kendall Richards
- Dr Debbie Meharg for her thesis A journey that motivates: discovering the associate student experience supervised within the Centre for Computing Education Research (Debbie’s primary research group) by Dr Sandra Cairncross and Alison Varey.
All three completed their research part-time while working in demanding academic roles – not an easy feat. Well done to Dr Alamri, Dr Chita, and Dr Meharg and their supervision teams!
