Community validation in qualitative research: contribution to #asist23

ASIST 2023 poster Salzano Hall Webster Brazier

Poster by Edinburgh Napier Social Informatics Research Group colleagues presented at #ASIST23

The main programme of the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Association for Information Science and Technology opens today in London. Sadly I cannot be there in person with my (lucky) Edinburgh Napier University Social Informatics Research Group colleagues*.

However, I am pleased that Dr Rachel Salzano will be presenting some work to which I contributed earlier this year with co-authors Dr Gemma Webster (who has just left Napier to take up a lecturer post at Dundee University) and Dr David Brazier. In the poster session we evaluate a novel means to determine trustworthiness in qualitative and mixed methods research, while making reference to Rachel’s doctoral study on the adoption and use of public library services by forced migrants.

The full 3-page conference submission on which our poster is based is available from the Edinburgh Napier University repository, and in the conference proceedings. In addition, Rachel has blogged about the poster on her own site Librariansanslibrary. Here Rachel also acknowledges the input of our colleague Dr Frances Ryan in the design of the final version of the poster.

*Maria Cecil, Dr Peter Cruickshank, Professor Diane McAdie, Dr Frances Ryan, and Dr Bruce Ryan. See the recent post on the Social Informatics blog for details of their contributions to the conference.
