The full draft programme for the 10th International Evidence Based Library and Information Practice Conference (EBLIP10), which takes place in Glasgow between 17th and 19th June 2019, is now available on the conference web site.

This includes details of conference keynotes: David Stewart, President of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals; Donna Scheeder Past President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions and of the Special Libraries Association; and Frankie Wilson, Head of Assessment at the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. Do you have the facts on Wikipedia?

Wikipedia logoDr Ally Crockford works as the Wikimedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland (NLS). This post is the first its kind in Scotland, and is part of an attempt by the NLS to lay the groundwork to improve open access to the library’s resources.

Last night Ally gave a presentation on her work at an SLA Europe event that was sponsored by Springer and hosted by the NLS. Her focus was the “real facts” about Wikipedia.

Winning ways: apply for that award

Like many others at this time of year I am now thoroughly sick and tired of the winter. Last weekend in Edinburgh was particularly poor with dismal dark skies overhead and a damp chill at ground level that seemed to rise up and penetrate my clothing no matter how well wrapped up I was. Each morning at this time of year I step out of my front door wondering whether this will finally be the day when I get a first real sniff of spring. As yet, no such joy.
