Today I served as the external examiner for a PhD within the Department of Information Studies at Aberystwyth University. The work submitted considers academic librarians, decision making and the evidence based practice model. It’s a very long journey from Edinburgh to Aberystwyth, but well worth it for the welcome I received at the University and the interesting viva discussion with the candidate and the rest of the examination team. The student was awarded a PhD subject to amendments to the thesis.
I’ve accepted an invitation to serve again on the i3 conference international programme committee. The 2013 conference conference takes place in Aberdeen next year between 25th and 28th June, and I’m really looking forward to it. This is the fourth conference in the series.
I kicked off my first class of 2012/13 by testing the creative skills of the students in my Knowledge Management class. For their ice-breaker exercise I asked them to compose limericks about one another. This one was my favourite.
