i3 logoEvery other year the Information: interactions and impact (i3) conference brings an international community of academic and practitioner researchers together in Aberdeen to explore the quality and effectiveness of the interactions between people and information, and how such interactions can bring about change. In the years in which it takes place, i3 is one of the highlights of the conference season. Cover image expansionThe June 2016 issue of Journal of Information Science (volume 42, issue 3) has just been published. This is a special issue of the journal that comprises twelve articles developed from 54 papers presented at the Information: Interactions and Impact (i3) conference held in Aberdeen in June 2015. An award-winning trip to #IDIMC 2016

IDIMC prize certificates2016 got off to a terrific start for the Centre for Social Informatics with three award-winning ‘performances’ at the 2nd International Data and Information Management Conference (IDIMC), hosted by the Centre for Information Management at Loughborough University on 12th and 13th January.

Following two intensive days of invited papers, contributed papers, workshops, PhD student presentations (delivered as 5 minute madness), and posters (not to mention all the chat between sessions in the breaks and at the conference dinner) we returned to Edinburgh clutching the prizes for: Continue reading →

iDocQ Information Science doctoral colloquium 2014 #idocq2014: a review

Information Science Pathway logoiDocQ, the annual doctoral colloquium for students studying for PhDs in information science and other related disciplines, took place this year on 27th June at the University of Glasgow. It attracted participants at all stages of doctoral study, with students travelling to Glasgow from as far away as Aberystwyth to join in the activities on the day.

CILIPS logo bannerInformation Science Scotland, the consortium of which my group at Edinburgh Napier University is a member, has partnered with CILIPS to showcase the research carried out by information science researchers in four Scottish Universities. Staff and doctoral students from Edinburgh Napier, Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Robert Gordon will be at a one-day event in Aberdeen on Tuesday 22nd April to discuss a range of research projects and how the findings of this work can help inform practice.

i3 logoEvery two years information science researchers gather in Aberdeen for the i3: information, interactions and impact conference hosted by the Department of Information Management at Robert Gordon University (RGU). The most recent i3 conference was held at the end of last month, running from Tuesday 25th until Friday 28th June.
